Women’s History Month: Esther Rolle #Diabetes

@MSEUGEENA_Esther

One of my favorite actresses was Esther Rolle. Esther was born in Pompano Beach, Florida, to Bahamian immigrants. She is probably best known for her television role as Florida Evans, the character she played on the 1970’s show, Good Times.

Rolle died on November 17, 1998 from complications of diabetes, 9 days after her 78th birthday.

Esther Rolle’s voice can be heard reciting Psalm 23 on the song “I Can Feel Him Moving” with the gospel choir on the Savoy Label.

It was sure good to hear her voice. Enjoy!

  1. What a great share, most time we see Sojourner Truth, Ida B Wells or Mary McLeod Bethune not that there is anything wrong with these names but its nice to see faces we have not seen in a while.,

  2. I loved listening to the song wow I never heard it before…I might have to use it for Children Church one Sunday, after I figure out how to use it in a lesson..Yes indeed..
